How Durable is Your Lacquer Finish
Oil-based lacquer is one of the toughest, most reliable finishes you can put on solid wood furniture. Hard, durable, and scratch-resistant, it’s built to stand up to real life. We spray 3–4 coats, sanding between each one, to create that smooth, near-flawless finish our customers love.
Let’s be honest: dining tables take a beating. They’re where meals happen, where homework sprawls, where game nights get loud, where life leaves its mark. You need a finish that doesn’t flinch and our oil-based lacquer is exactly that.
Here are a few of our favorite things about it:
-
No coasters required. Even an ice-cold drink sweating in the Texas heat won’t leave a ring.
-
Spills wipe right up. Things that would stain or strip lesser finishes like bright red Kool-Aid aren’t a problem here.
-
It never dries out. Unlike oil finishes, oil-based lacquer doesn’t need to be reapplied and won’t get thirsty or dull over time.
That said, common-sense care still applies. If it’s too hot to hold, it’s too hot for the table use a trivet or hot pad. Avoid harsh chemicals like nail polish remover, and skip heavy duty cleaners. A damp rag or mild soapy water is perfect, and any wood-safe cleaner will do the trick.
We default to a satin/low-sheen look because it honors real hardwood—soft, natural, inviting—and it’s easier to keep clean and free of fingerprints than glossy finishes.
